Add Style With A Fake Sheepskin Rug

By Jason Allen

Many people want to decorate a room in their home but are often intimidated by the process. Keeping things simple helps with cost and maintenance but the space can still become fabulous with just a few touches. Things like a fake sheepskin rug can transform a living space with one step.

Unlike area rugs of yesteryear, these new models have a look and feel like they came from the outdoors. The difference is that most are safe for machine washing but it may be best for a professional cleaning service to handle stains. There are also many colors and textures to complement any room theme.

While white or cream colors may be tradition, dark tends to be practical in rooms with moderate to heavy foot traffic. Sometimes animal prints are a fun choice and can add life to neutral colors. Yet, something that is a bright primary or secondary color is a good way to liven things up, especially if there are large pieces to be used as an accent.

Textured rugs today often feel like animal fur but are made of premium materials that are often easy to clean. On thing about using these faux fur rugs is that they can be used almost anywhere in the home. Something that feels smooth and silky may be a nice contrast to a room with a folk theme. The same applies to spaces with a contemporary or modern look, as a highly textured rug could complement the sleek lines and minimalism throughout.

For instance, rooms with a modern or sleek look can have a large textured rug to offset the straight lines. If the theme is casual or folksy, a rug with the look of mink may not be out of place. It can take a moment to experiment and find a unique feel, even if it means hanging a rug on a wall instead of the floor.

If one is looking to venture out but wants to keep decorating to a minimum, there are many guides that can be helpful. For instance, most walls are painted white but if there is another color or wallpaper that cannot be removed, a color wheel can help in choosing complementary colors. Blue, for example, is a color that can be accessorized with yellow or different shades of orange.

While most buy a large area rug to cover and protect a carpet or floor, it may also have other uses. Place it against a furnishing of a like hue or use as a place to sit near a coffee table or fireplace. Anyone with concerns about excess dirt can talk to a cleaning specialist about treatment that prevents stains from setting in.

Living in a bland space is no fun for most people. Even renters can find some creative ways to make their home look fabulous without breaking any rules. By exploring what books, magazines, and websites have to offer, one can find a look that will satisfy their needs. After a while, others may think that a trained interior decorator was used.
